What’s the difference between the accredited mediation course and the 2-day mediation skills course?

Our Accredited Workplace Mediation Certificate course is a 5-day course (plus assessment), accredited by the Open College Network (OCN). It is designed for people who want to formally mediate within an organisation or work as a consultant workplace mediator. As it is an accredited course, we assess delegates on their mediation practice and knowledge. Once you have attended this course, you can call yourself an accredited mediator. We recommend this course to anyone who wants to formally mediate. This is the course that your mediators will have to attend if you are planning to create an Internal Mediation Service.

Our Effective Workplace Mediation Skills course is a 2-day course aimed at HR professionals and managers who want to informally use mediation skills to manage low-level conflict within their teams. It is not an assessed course and it does not lead to a mediation accreditation. It is suitable for HR professionals and managers who want to learn additional skills to add to their skill set. We recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn mediation skills to informally manage conflict within their teams, but who do not need to call themselves an accredited mediator.

Can the accredited workplace mediation course be delivered as a 5-day course intensive?

Yes, there is the option of delivering the Accredited Workplace Mediation Certificate as an intensive one-week course with longer days. You have the option of attending the intensive course as a public course in central London in August. We also deliver the intensive course in-house.

Where are Consensio’s public training courses delivered?

Consensio’s public training courses are delivered at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in central London. Consensio’s in-house courses can be delivered anywhere in the UK or internationally.

How long is each course day?

Our courses start at 9.30am and end at 5pm. There are short morning and afternoon coffee breaks and a 45-minute lunch break. If you would like a course to start or finish earlier or later, we can accommodate this request.

Our public courses include lunch as well as tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.

How many delegates attend each course?

We keep all of our course sizes small to ensure lots of opportunity for group discussion, practice and individualised feedback. On average, our public course size is 6-8 delegates. On in-house courses, we can accommodate a maximum of 12 delegates per course.

Who are Consensio courses suitable for?

Our courses are suitable for anyone interested in workplace mediation and conflict management skills. The people that we train include HR professionals, managers, counsellors, therapists, lawyers and coaches who work in the private, public and third sectors.
